UnitedHealthcare (UHC) has expanded its network relationship with the Huntsville Hospital Health System, giving more care to Medicare Advantage sufferers.
The insurance company claimed that the expansion permits people enrolled in UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare Advantage plans to access all the Health Systems’ hospitals, outpatient clinics and physicians. The Health System involves Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children, Madison Hospital, Decatur Morgan Hospital, Athens-Limestone Hospital, Lawrence Medical Center, Helen Keller Hospital and Red Bay Hospital.
“Huntsville Hospital Health System is an important addition to our Medicare Advantage care provider network and gives our plan participants greater choice and access to quality, cost-effective care,” stated Gregg Kunemund, CEO of UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement in Alabama.
UHC serves more than 310,000 people in individual, employer-sponsored, and Medicare health plans in Alabama. The company’s network involves 104 hospitals and almost 12,000 physicians and other care providers statewide.
Huntsville Hospital Health System, an in-network care provider for individuals enrolled in UnitedHealthcare employer-sponsored and individual health plans, presently has more than 800 doctors on staff. The publicly-owned hospital system houses over 1,800 patient beds and employs 13,000 workers.
“Huntsville Hospital Health System and UnitedHealthcare will work together to meet the medical requirements of our patients across North Alabama,” claimed Kelli Powers, chief financial officer of the Huntsville Hospital Health System.
UnitedHealthcare is a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group, a Fortune 500 company based in the region of Minnesota.
