A hospital and ACO in the area of Texas executed a healthcare secure messaging platform that assisted the physicians, nurses, and staff interacts without compromising PHI.
Healthcare secure messaging is rapidly becoming a significant choice for healthcare providers, particularly as technology sustains to evolve and mobile devices increase in fame.
Doctors, nurses, and other workers require making sure that they can securely interact critical data without compromising patient care in the procedure.
Lubbock, Texas-based Covenant Medical Group and Covenant Health Partners 1st applied a secure messaging choice out of necessity, in accordance to IT Systems Director Seth Crouch, MBA, CPC, CMPE, and CHFP.
Physicians, nurses, and other staffs desired a convenient way to interact data, but Crouch stated that he knew HIPAA compliance was also going to be necessary.
Covenant chose secure messaging through PerfectServe, in accordance to Crouch, and that the C-suite and IT steering committee were entire part of the decision making procedure.
“The way we opted to roll this out in case to gain adoption was to get our very busy, high-profile physicians to utilize this and to begin the communication procedure that path,” Crouch elaborated. “And they did. That types of set the stage up for everyone else below them, where if they required talking to these high-profile physicians, they had to utilize PerfectServe.”
The execution took place at Covenant Medical about 5 years ago, and the hospital started to follow suit not long after, he said. Workers are also capable to utilize their own devices.
While depicting the case for why secure messaging would be useful, Crouch stated that he asserted the significance of keeping PHI safe. Standard SMS texting would not be capable to promise that, he elaborated, and there were various lawsuits at the period that represented what could happen should secure information be intercepted.
He claimed that nurses are capable to interact and communicate on the platform through computers as well, meaning they do not have to utilize their own data policies to maintain secure communications. This made kept them pleased, Crouch stated, which was recognized a “win-win.”
There are nearly 500 actual users in the medical group that utilize the secure platform, he claimed, which involves doctors, nurses, and staff.
