McKesson Health Solutions and Health QX on the day of Wednesday declared an alliance designed to assist insurers rapidly design and scale complicated bundled payment models. The agreement also targets to make sure those programs give timely and correct payment to contributors.
Under the terms of the agreement, HealthQX and McKesson will jointly market their solutions to their respective clients, as well as coordinate consulting and service offerings, providing payers a single point of contact when making bundled payment programs.
The declaration was made at the Healthcare Financial Management Association’s yearly National Payment Innovation Summit, which is being arranged this week in the Memphis, Tennessee.
The agreement unites industry leaders, whose combined offerings begin with claims analysis, utilizing HealthQX’s ClarityQX; it expands to enterprise-class operation utilizing McKesson’s Episode Management and its other value-based compensation tools. This closes the spaces or gaps that can derail bundled payment programs, as payers and contributors elaborate how payments should be administered or – after that — as payers struggle to scale operations to enterprise stages or levels.
The development is hoped to be positive for payers and contributors attempting to master the complication of bundled payment models. Merely last month, the CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) executed the final rule for its 1st mandatory bundled payment program. Beginning in April, acute care hospitals in targeted regions will acquire bundled payments for lower extremity joint replacements or reattachments. This aligns with CMS’s objective of having 30% of reimbursement made through alternative payments this year, and 50% by the year 2018.
“Interest in bundled payment as a fast way to (value-based reimbursement) has never been higher, and payers and contributors alike need assistance getting launched and scaling up,” stated Carolyn Wukitch, senior vice president of McKesson Health Solutions, in a statement.
