In accordance to the Complaint, during the Class Period, Defendants made deceptive and/or misleading statements and/or failed to reveal that: Aetna and its senior executives attempted to influence Aetna’s participation in the Public Exchanges for positive treatment from regulators regarding the Humana acquisition; that the Company threatened to cut back its participation in public health insurance exchanges if the Department of Justice (“DOJ”) attempted to block the merger; that Aetna withdraw from some public health insurance exchanges to complete its threat of leaving the marketplace once the DOJ filed suit to make better its litigation; that Aetna withdrew from public health insurance exchanges that were profitable for Aetna; and that as a result, Defendants’ statements regarding Aetna’s business, operations, and prospects were wrong and misleading and/or lacked a reasonable basis.
When this data was released to the public, the value of Aetna stock fell, causing investors extreme loss or harm.
