The new Ohio resident Jamey Strawbridge has sixteen years nursing experience in the states of Florida, California, Alabama and Tennessee. When Strawbridge shifted to the Dayton place, he applied for an Ohio nursing license. After more than a month, Strawbridge has no license – temporary or permanent.
In case to pay his bills, Strawbridge began 2 jobs far from his nursing training: security and handling a pizza restaurant.
“You claimed that all that I required was these 3 items to show that I am a nurse and my temporary Ohio Nursing license could be issued in few days. It does not make sense. Why do I’ve to wait a month?” inquired Strawbridge of the Ohio Nursing Board.
Strawbridge is among one of hundreds of nurses taking to the Ohio Board of Nursing Facebook page to make complain about latest delays in acquiring Ohio Nursing license to practice.
In the month of January, the Ohio Board of Nursing declared that they were turning to their new eLicense system.
Throughout the season of summer, nurses have made complain that their online applications for compulsory license renewal simply do not work, mostly because of errors with taking in social security numbers or complete names.
2 nurses from Cincinnati told ten Investigates the mere way they could do their license renewal rightly was in person at the downtown Columbus office.
Several nurses complained about the deficiency of help, so 10TV called the nursing board phone number at 614-466-3947 to observe what they were experiencing. No phone option provided us the opportunity to talk to a person, merely to leave a message.
The nursing board claims 11,000 nurses have victoriously renewed their licenses this year. But that is only one-fifth of the almost 58,000 Ohio nurses requiring renewal.
The Ohio Board of Nursing claims that it is up to the Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS) to fix this.
DAS also refused our request for interview writing, “The State of Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS) recently introduced a latest license system, Ohio eLicense 3.0. The Board of Nursing licensing procedure has been impacted by system problems that DAS is working to resolve.”
