But when it comes to saying goodbye, there have not been many choices. Hospice care for ill pets is growing highly on its peak in Colorado.
Although, a Denver lady is doing something distinctive as her dog of almost 2 decades moves toward the end of his life.
“As your dog becomes aged and older, your vet can assist you less and less,” stated Tamar Rosenfeld. Rosenfeld made the decision to put her Jack Russell/Corgi mix under the services of hospice care for ill pets.

A veterinarian from Caring Pathways hospice comes to Tamar’s home to check on Ira’s general physical health. The treatment is not aggressive. It is all about making Ira’s last days convenient and comfortable. The price of this care differs from hundreds to thousands of dollars.
Pet hospice is a latest movement. It is just been around for about 5 years. It’s not for all families/
“It is OK for the pet if pain is controlled, breathing is convenient and that quality of life is yet there,” stated veterinarian Lori Lowery of Caring Pathways. “It offers people that gift of a transition and again it is so, so significant that it is the very best thing for that pet.”
Ira’s been in hospice care for ill pets since the season of summer, but Tamar knows hard decisions are ahead.
In spite of her grief, Tamar knows this is a true blessing. She gets the opportunity for a gradual goodbye on her terms.
