Aetna declared on Monday it has received the approval of Florida’s office of insurance regulation for its pending acquisition of Humana, a significant step provided the 2 insurers serve a huge number of Medicare Advantage members in the state.
The insurer claims this marks the approval of 10 of the 20 state approvals it needs to complete the transaction.
Florida’s approval hinges on the case that Aetna increases its participation in the state insurance exchange, which would stop the insurer from possibly choosing out in the future.
